Future Now Contest Video

The theme of my digital story that will be entered into the NYC Future Now Contest is Dreams. It reflects dreams people have had, both past and present, and dreams that could one day become reality in the future. It also shows how even when someone's dream gets temporarily put on hold, it will still be there in the future (WTC). I hope that the judges of the contest like my video. The song used is the instrumental version of "Dreams" by The Game, with production by Kayne West.

Digitales Evaluation

Click here to view my Digitales Evaluation Rubric

The story I believe most reflects the ISSN graduate portfolio is "The Power of Joy" by Annie, an elementary school teacher in Washington. The story is about school kids coming together to complete activities using teamwork. The aspects of the graduate portfolio that were reached were Skills for Success in a Global Environment, Connected to the World and Knowledge Required in the Global Era. The aspects of the graduate portfolio that were not reached were Ready for College. To be fair though, these are elementary schools kids, so they really couldn't be prepared for college yet.

Digital Story 2 Topic

The topic I am choosing for my 2nd digital story is police brutality. While we don't see a lot of this in Staten Island, in other areas of the country (and the world) there have been many cases of police brutality in the last 20 years. This does not need to be the case and I hope that my digital story sheds some light on the subject.

Graduate Portfolio Reflection - Digital Story 1

The portion of the CSI Graduate Portfolio which I feel my digital story best reflects is being an effective user of technology. The Graduate Portfolio states that you must "Proficiently use a multitude of technological tools for communication, presentation and data analysis"; I used the internet to create my digital story and the internet is a technological tool. I also had a video montage set to music in my digital story which displayed some of the new technology that has come with the arrival of the 21st century, including iPods and laptops. I think that these 2 facts show that I am becoming an effective user of technology.

Digital Story 1 Reflection

While completing my digital story on my generation I realized how far technology has come. 15 years ago people knew very little about computers and were still trying to figure out how to use the internet. Now, almost everyone has a computer and uses the internet daily. I also realized how much we take for granted, as things we expect: electricity, clean water, ect., are often not available in other parts of the world as the Haiti Earthquake and Asia Tsunami showed.
